With a rich history, Prague is now a modern and dynamic city of about 1.26 million inhabitants. It is considered a great place for children because of its many parks. There are also many opportunities for families residing there, such as playgrounds and one-time events for families, activities organised by different city districts, activities organised by the Zoo of Prague, Father’s Day or Sports Festivals among others.
It boasts five large hospitals with excellent departments for gynaecology and obstetrics, and many private gynaecological and obstetrical centres for pregnant women and mothers. It also has plenty of centres focusing on healthy nutrition and lifestyles. Diverse physical activities are offered in fitness centres and sport clubs, as well as in the city parks.
With 13,867 live births each year in Prague, there’s plenty of opportunity to meet other mums and mums-to-be! Of all these pregnancies, less than 1% of them are among women under the age of 18, and 28% are with women over the age of 35. However, the average age for pregnancy is 29. Families have an average of two children.
